As summer came to a close, the Central City Area Chamber of Commerce Board kept busy with a variety of activities including a ribbon cutting, sponsoring events, and of course, our monthly Board meeting.
Ribbon Cutting for El Agave Mexican Restaurant
We officially welcomed El Agave to the Chamber with a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 26th. The Chamber Board presented our newest member with a ceremonial, framed “first dollar made” and highlighted all that El Agave brings to the community.
Sponsoring the Town Hall Meeting - Community Needs Assessment Survey
On September 4th, the Chamber Board stepped up and helped sponsor the Town Hall Meeting presenting the Community Needs Assessment Survey results. We provided Pizza Hut and salads to attendees who identified and discussed Central City’s needs and planned for the future and growth of the community.
Board members contributed to these conversations as well as assisted with the setup and takedown for the event.
Spread the Kindness
The Chamber Board continued its “Spread the Kindness” campaign. This month, we recognized Chasity Pfeifer - State Farm Insurance Agent and staff. Donna, our Chamber Director, delivered an ice cream cake to the State Farm office in town. Chasity is a constant beacon of kindness in the community, and notably, she recently delivered donuts to businesses throughout town, truly spreading the sweetness.
We will continue to “Spread the Kindness” with more sweet treats to come. The Board asks that members join in by paying it forward, wearing shirts that display “kind” or “kindness” on Fridays, participating in our Facebook posts, and just showing that kindness matters.
September Chamber Board Meeting
The September Chamber of Commerce Board meeting convened as usual, and here are some highlights.
A Social Media Policy was voted on and approved by the Board. This policy conveys a clear path for Chamber members to utilize the Chamber’s Facebook page for marketing. The Chamber’s Facebook page is a powerful resource, exclusive to our members. Please, see the new policy so we can share your business with our followers!
There are a number of events we are preparing for this fall. The Board discussed how to best support the Fall Small Town Market Days happening October 3rd-5th. Our Chamber Member Appreciation event is being planned for October, so keep your eyes peeled for more info on that. A Central City favorite, The Parade of Goblins, is set for Sunday October 27th. It’s never too early to start thinking about Halloween costumes. The Board even began discussing holiday business as the Chamber was approached to take part in the Central City Community Christmas Celebration.
Stay tuned, Chamber members. We’ve got a lot planned for the remainder of the year for you to take part in. We look forward to continuing to support you and your business!
